Εκτός από τις wylde-garage-punk-with-snotty-vocals-fuzzed-out-guitars-and-swirling-farfisa μπάντες που κυρίως συμπεριέλαβα στο top 50 volyme 1 υπήρχαν και μπάντες με ήχο εμπλουτισμένο με ποπ, με ψυχεδέλεια, με μπητ, με σόουλ, με σαϊκομπίλι, με, με, με... Ο όρος purist δεν είχε καμία ιδιαίτερη έννοια μέχρι και το τέλος της δεκαετίας του '80...

the Garage Punk Explosion of the 80's!

Είναι αδύνατον να θυμηθώ ποιά ήταν τα πρώτα γκαράζ ακούσματά μου. Τέλη του '89 με αρχές του '90, μόλις γινόμουν δεκαοκτώ και θυμάμαι να με πιάνει ανησυχία ακούγοντας Fuzztones, Cynics, Stems, Sunnyboys, Cramps και Creeps. Από τα πρώτα γκαράζ άλμπουμς που κράταγα στα χέρια μου ανεβαίνοντας τα σκαλιά του 7+7 ήταν το Live In Europe των Fuzztones και το Rock'n'Roll των Cynics. Είχα σχεδόν πέσει από την καρέκλα που καθόμουν, όταν άκουσα το Way It's Gonna Be των Cynics μια μέρα μεσημέρι στον Δασκαλόπουλο. Από τότε το γκαράζ πανκ είναι μέρος της ζωής μου. Πολύ περισσότερο η δεκαετία του ογδόντα, που δεν την πρόλαβα λάιβ αλλά όταν ξεθύμαινε από το χάιπ και το γκαράζ ξανατρύπωνε υπογείως. 
Έφτιαξα ένα άλμπουμ με 50 garage punk τραγούδια της εποχής εκείνης που για μένα, για διαφορετικούς λόγους, είναι τα πιο αγαπημένα και ίσως τα πιο αντιπροσωπευτικά. Τα χώρισα σε 4 μέρη που κατεβαίνουν ξεχωριστά και συμπληρώνουν το ένα το άλλο. Θα ακολουθήσουν κι άλλα τόσα τουλάχιστο.
